About
I am a Ph.D student and also working as a Research Assistant in the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). I have earned MS in Electrical Engineering (EE) from UMBC and BS in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT).
Electrical Engineer
- Degree: MS in Electrical Engineering (PhD candidate)
- Email: mmahmud1@umbc.edu
- Designation Research Assistant
- Lab: Embedded Systems and Networks (ESNet) Lab
- Location: ITE 391, UMBC, Maryland, USA
- Research Interests: Wireless Communication, Signal Processing,
Machine Learning, Medical Device.
I am working in Embedded Systems and Networks (ESNet) Lab at UMBC. Currently developing a suite of protocols enabling wireless communication between aerial mobile units (AMUs) and underwater acoustic networks (UANs) using optoacoustic/photoacoustic process. These protocols are then leveraged to extend the global coordinate system in the underwater environment to aid in localization and topology management. I also collaborate with the LASARRUS Clinic and Research Center to develop a smart IoT wearable sensor for COPD patients.
Projects and Awards
I am currently working on two National Science Foundation (NSF) projects: Enabling Access and Topology Optimization of Underwater Networks through an Aerial Vehicle and Smart IoT Wearable for Remote Monitoring and Assessment of COVID-19 Patients. Before UMBC I worked as a RAN Engineer in Nokia Solutions and Networks and Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd.
